Join us for a Character and voice workshop with special guest, Jennifer Barnhart, where we will examine those two critical and inextricably linked elements of developing a puppet character. In this workshop, we will investigate different ways of expanding our vocal repertoire and using those skills to strengthen a sense of character and point of view. Feel free to bring any puppets you are currently working on, and we can explore different voices to help define the character further!
Jennifer Barnhart has been a professional puppeteer for twenty-five years. She has worked on about a dozen different shows for television, including Between the Lions, Bear in the Big Blue House, Johnny & the Sprites, Julie’s Greenroom (with Julie Andrews) on Netflix, Helpsters on Apple+, and she has been on Sesame Street for seventeen seasons, where she has played Zoe from Season 46 until the present. Jennifer is also an Original Company Member of the Tony Award-winning show Avenue Q, and she remained with the show for its entire Broadway run. As a Voice-over performer, her work can be heard on various educational apps and audio books for children, most notably in the full-length YA novel “The Adventures of a Girl Called Bicycle” for Penguin Random House.
